Nisarga celebrated Christmas and New Year 2023 with all its staff. Games competitions were conducted for the staff and prizes were distributed. The Christmas message of Peace and Love was delivered by Fr. Victor Pias, Manager, St. Antony's School. Sr. Smitha D'Souza, Director, NISARGA distributed the Christmas gifts for all staff; and they too presented Christmas gift to the management. The celebration was concluded with a delicious meal together.

Health camps for de-worming of sheep were conducted in Hosathimmappanahatti and Agasarahalli villages of Hosadurga Taluk, under Farmers Programme. Dr. Mallesh, Veterinary Hospital, Kenchipura and Dr. Basavaraj (retired) rendered their service for the camp. Sr. Smitha D’Souza, Director, Nisarga inaugurated the camp.

4000 sheep of 87 farmers were supplied medicine through the camp.

The monthly meetings of 19 Cluster Level Federations and Capacity building trainings were held for the federations were held.

The follow up meetings of the groups of farmers trained under Micro Entrepreneur Development Programme (MEDP); and the Vermi-compost tanks for production of organic manure.

The meeting of Village Watershed Committee was held at Duggavara .

Duggavara Watershed work in progress: The  Watershed Development activities (treatment of individual farmer's field) was initiated with Bhoomi pooje (honouring mother earth) on 23.11.2022. Trench work in eight farmers' fields were completed during 23rd to 30th November 2022.

In view of Children’s Day, NISARGA organized the Talents Day for Children, gathering the children of 13 Nisarga Children’s Clubs from various villages at St. Antony’s School, Hosadurga. Around 450 children participated in the programme. Mr. Jayappa, BEO, Hosadurga, Fr. Victor Pias, Manager, St. Antony’s School, Mr. Govindappa, AKAY, Amalagondi, Sr. Smitha D’Souza, Director, NISARGA and Sr. Florine Lobo were the guests of the day. An awareness session on Child Rights was given for the children.

It was an occasion for the children to display their talents and to socialize with their peers from other villages and to cross learn from each other. The clubs had competition on skits depicting their Club Hero/Heroine, Philosophical Lyrics and Quiz on General Knowledge and the winners were given prizes.

Mr. Abraham Samuel, consultant, KFW, Germany, Mr. Prasanna, consultant, WDF-NABARD Bangalore and Ms. Kavita Shashidhar, DDM-NABARD Chitradurga visited the villages where Climate Change Adaptive Agriculture (CCAA) project was implemented.

The farmers of Duggavara Watershed Development project Area visited WEDS and the watershed project under WEDS, Koppala to understand and learn the importance and impact of the programme.

The Registered body of Taluk Level Federation of Self Help Groups had one day training on ‘Role of SHGs in the neighbourhood & the Banking Schemes’. Mr. S K Madhusudhana, Counsellor at State Bank of India Financial Literacy Centre, Hosadurga, who is a retired Bank Manager was the resource person. 35 women representatives of 19 Cluster Level Federations participated in the Training.

Monthly Meeting of Cluster Level Federations of Women's Self Help Groups

Two trainings were conducted in Duggavara and NV Hatty village for the empowerment of the farming community for the conservation of natural resources on 7^th and 12^th October 2022. The major content of the training was Watershed concept development focusing on soil & water conservation techniques. 75 community members, including the Watershed committee  participated in the trainings. Duggavara Watershed Development Project team facilitated the trainings. 

The regular weekly meetings and discussions on various subjects/awareness creation on government schemes; and celebration of national and international days in the SHGs.

The 3rd Annual General Body meeting of Raithashakti FPO was held at its office, Devigere on 26.09.2022. Ms. H P Bharathi, President of Raithashakti presided over the meeting. Ms. Kavitha Shashidhar, District Development Manager, NABARD inaugurated the meeting; and Sr. Smitha D'Souza, Director, NISRGA delivered the key note address. Mr. Thimmaiah, Assistant Manager, ICCOA, Chithradurga, Mr. Karthik, Project Associate,S3IDF and Mr. Dayanand, CEO, Raithashakti felicitated the meeting. Ms. N Bharathi, one of the Board of Directors of the Company presented the annual report.

The preliminary Gramasabhe (village meetings) of Duggavara Watershed Project supported by APPI were conducted in NV Hatti and Duggavara villages of Doddagatta Gram Panchayat on 2nd and 23rd September 2022 and the Watershed Committee was formed.

The Annual General Body Meeting of Taluk Level Federation (TLF) of women's Self Help Groups was held at NISARGA Training Hall on 21.09.2022. Ms. Shylaja, President of TLF presided over the meeting;   Sr. Smitha D'Souza, Director, NISARGA inaugurated the meeting; Ms. Rekha Rani, Supervisor, CDPO, the chief guest delivered the key note address; and Ms. Shruthi and Ms. Kavitha, Board of Directors presented the Annual Report.

It is our duty to care, protect & educate our children and create conducive ecosystem, to let them find their dreams and to reach it. When we instill a growth mindset in  children, we equip them with the confidence to become whoever they want to be and the perspective they need to unfold their incredible potentials. As part of  children’s programme, Nisarga organized one-day summer camps in 16 villages of Hosadurga Taluk from 23.4.2022 to 13.5.2022. The children had two sessions on health and values-forming a dream for future. Around 1700 children were part of the camp. The quiz program enlivened the children with knowledge; and the prizes for those who answered the questions were indeed an incentive to them . Every child participated in the camp was given bag, note books and snacks . The children and parents were very happy for the refreshing and enlightening experience of camp for the children after a break of COVID times. We remain grateful to the donors, schools, teachers and staff for the cooperation and collaboration to organize these camps.

We had organized Organic manure production training for the women of Anivala village in collaboration with NABARD. The training was conducted from 21.04.2022 to 30.04.2022 for 10 days. 30 women were part of this training. They had practical sessions on the preparation of organic pesticides, Jeevamrutha, Agni astra, beejamrutha, vermi compost, compost manure. The practical sessions were done in the fields of the selected beneficiaries. The women also presented their reports everyday which indeed gave them an opportunity to come to the stage and face the crowd. Along with the preparation of organic manure and pesticides, they also gained self confident, learned to write and present the report without any fear. The training was very interactive as the women kept asking questions and clearing their doubts. With the help of Sr. Zita, the women drew up the action plan for a year. They decided to prepare the manure and pesticides and use them to their field and thus slowly initiate organic farming. They were also given certificates at the end of the trainings. Mr. Tanaji S3IDF and Mr. Shivakumar were the main resource persons for the entire training. NABARD DDM Mrs.Kavitha Shashidhar also visited the group during the training and encouraged to begin the manure production unit in Anivala. Sr. Smitha assisted everyday in reviewing the previous day’s sessions. The beneficiaries were taken to Dr. Murugesh’s farm to see and learn about natural farming. Dr. Murughesh shared his experience on natural farming.
